Creating custom profile tabs
You can create new profile tabs and add them to your ChartHop organization's employee profiles. You can tailor the functions of your tabs by setting labels, configuring settings, restricting content visibility to specific members, and arranging content featured in your tabs by using custom fields and the editor tool.

Create a custom profile tab
The first step to adding custom profile tabs to employee profiles is to create a new custom profile tab.
To create a custom profile tab:
- In the Settings option in the left sidebar, select Profile tabs.
- In the profile tab view, at the top of the page, select the + button to create a new empty tab.
- Name your tab by giving it a Label in the Tab Configuration settings.
- Select Save.
If you don't see the + button in the tab view, try scrolling your browser window all the way to the right.
Default configuration settings
After you create a new custom profile tab, its default configuration settings are managed in the Tab Configuration panel. If you wish to make changes to the default settings prior to creating your profile tab, be sure to follow the steps for Configuring a tab before saving.
Default tab configuration settings are as follows:
- Label - The label displayed for the tab. Newly created tabs are given the label of "New Tab" by default.
- Active - The tab's status. Newly created tabs are active by default.
- Sensitivity - The tab's level of sensitivity. The default sensitivity for new tabs is Org public, which allows the tab to be visible to all members in your ChartHop organization.
- Sort - The order in which the tab will appear on the employee profile page. Sort order will automatically be assigned the highest number available based on the total count of your profile tabs.
- Only Visible For Members Matching Filter - The tab will only be visible to members who match the filtered criteria. Supports Carrot Query Language filters. No filters are applied by default, allowing all users to have visibility.
Configure a custom profile tab
After creating a custom profile tab you can further customize its appearance in the employee profile view by managing its name, access level, sensitivity, and sort order using the settings in the Tab Configuration panel.

To configure a tab's settings:
- In the Settings option in the left sidebar, select Profile tabs.
- Select the tab you wish to configure from the top of the view.
- Apply the following settings in the Tab Configuration section:
- Label - The label displayed for the tab.
- Active - The tab's status. Inactive tabs will not be shown.
- Sensitivity - The tab's level of sensitivity. The tab itself will only be visible to members with proper access. Information within the tab will be selectively visible only to those with proper access.
- Org public - Available to all members in your ChartHop organization.
- Manager shared - Available to an employee's manager, and every position above manager.
- Personal - Available at the employee level.
- Manager only - Available only to an employee's manager.
- Highly sensitive - Available only to Owners.
- Sort - The order in which the tab will appear on the employee profile page.
- Only Visible For Members Matching Filter - The tab will only be visible to members who match the filtered criteria. Supports Carrot Query Language filters.
- Select Save.
