The *reviewer workbook* is the relevant employee, budget, and guideline data that displays to your reviewers and approvers when they complete employee compensation reviews.

Each column in the reviewer workbook corresponds to a ChartHop built-in or custom field. The columns included by default are based on the built-in fields you use throughout your ChartHop organization. You have the flexibility to customize the workbook to fit the needs of your reviewers and approvers.

To customize the reviewer workbook, open an existing compensation review with a status of **Not started** or **Paused**. Select the **Reviewer workbook** tab.

### Customize an existing column

Each column row has an expand icon on the right. Selecting it opens the **Edit column** panel for that column. Make your changes and select **Save** to apply them, or **Cancel** to discard.

You can edit the following settings in the Edit column panel:

- **Label** — The name of the column that displays to reviewers and approvers. For example, *Current salary* instead of *Base*.
- **Editable** — Determines whether reviewers and approvers can edit the contents of the column:
  - **Edit** — The reviewer or approver can edit the column.
  - **View only** — The reviewer or approver cannot make edits.
  - **Edit only if** — The reviewer or approver can edit only if specific criteria are met. Establish the criteria using filters or a Carrot query.
- **These people will see the column and its contents for those under them** — Determines who can see the column. Options:
  - **All reviewers** — Everyone involved in the compensation review can view this column. This is the default setting.
  - **Custom** — Only reviewers and approvers matching specified custom criteria can view this column. Establish the criteria using filters or a Carrot query.
- **What cycle user role types can view this column?** — A separate field that restricts visibility by role within the compensation review. Options: **All roles** or **Only certain roles**. When **Only certain roles** is selected, you can choose from: Proposer, Approver, Final approver, Owner.
When both a people filter and a role filter are set, a user must meet both requirements for the column to be visible.
- **Budget** — Displays how many budgets you've set up that reference this field.
- **Guideline** — Displays how many guidelines you've set up that reference this field.
- **Color** — Customizes the color of the column header in the reviewer workbook. Enter a Hex code or RGB value.
