Sync your org from your payroll system

The easiest way to get started with ChartHop is to synchronize your employee payroll data to ChartHop. ChartHop uses this information to build your current org structure and create a retroactive history using past employees and start and end dates.

Once you've installed an integration app, ChartHop sync changes from your payroll system daily.

ChartHop's integration apps allow you to configure ChartHop to synchronize with your payroll system to keep your organization data in ChartHop up to date. Synchronizing your payroll system to ChartHop also provides you with the quickest way to build your org chart.

ChartHop's payroll apps make it easier to keep your data up-to-date across platforms by automating the retrieval of payroll data from your chosen provider. Learn more.

Supported payroll system integrations

These apps are all one-way from the payroll provider to ChartHop. Thus, the payroll provider remains the source of truth on compensation and reporting structure, but ChartHop is always up-to-date with the latest state of payroll.

Typically the payroll provider does not track open roles, so ChartHop has a better view of the organization by incorporating applicant tracking, equity, and other data points into a single system.

All customers regardless of which ChartHop package they are subscribed can use the following provided synchronization apps:

  • BambooHR
  • Gusto
  • Justworks
  • Namely
  • Sapling
  • Zenefits

ChartHop Basic customers can sync from only one payroll system. If you don't see a synchronization app listed for your payroll system, you will need to manually import your payroll system data from a spreadsheet. Learn more.

The following synchronization apps are only available for ChartHop Standard and ChartHop Premium customers.

  • ADP
  • Humaans
  • Paylocity
  • Rippling
  • Sequoia One
  • SuccessFactors
  • TriNet
  • Workday

What if my payroll system isn't listed?

Create a spreadsheet of your current organization, including names, titles, managers, and compensation. You may be able to export this data from your existing payroll or other HR system.

You can upload this spreadsheet into ChartHop as a CSV file. However, you will need to keep changes up-to-date in ChartHop when hires, departures, or roles change.

What if not all my employees are in my payroll system? Or what if I have multiple payroll systems?

ChartHop is designed as a system that can bring together multiple different systems of record in one place. When you configure a connection between your payroll system and ChartHop, the synchronization activity only affects employees in the payroll system. If you have added employees directly to ChartHop that aren't in the payroll system, the sync action from the payroll system ignores those employees and won't alter them.

So you can synchronize data from multiple payroll providers if needed in addition to directly adding employees/contractors directly into ChartHop. Start by installing your primary provider and fill in additional data as appropriate.
