this feature is currently in alpha be one of the first customers to try it! please share any feedback with the charthop team how to setup a alpha feature contact mailto\ support\@charthop com or your csm if you have one they can activate the feature for you read below for setup instructions and context on how the feature will work goal types overview goal types define how goals behave across charthop they control how progress is measured, how confidence is reported, how forecasting works, and how updates are structured by configuring goal types, administrators set a consistent language for goals across the organization this ensures that goals are comparable, understandable, and trusted goal types admin view the goal types admin page lists all goal types available in the organization to access this view, navigate to admin > goal types each row shows the name of the goal type whether it supports metric based targets which forecast types are enabled whether milestone based tracking is used which confidence levels are available in updates who last modified the goal type and when from this view, admins can create new goal types edit existing goal types standardize how different kinds of goals are measured, such as company goals, sales quotas, or operational initiatives this page acts as the control center for how goals work everywhere else in charthop create goal create or edit goal type modal the create goal type modal is where administrators define the structure and rules for a goal type everything configured here applies to every goal created with this type goal type name name is the label users see when selecting a goal type it should clearly describe the purpose of the goal type, such as company goal, sales quota, or product initiative metric based goal targets when enabled, goals of this type can include numeric metrics admins define the labels for metric targets, such as target, stretch, base, or bunny the color associated with each target the ability to add additional target levels as needed these targets appear in goal metrics, charts, and progress calculations forecasting when forecasting is enabled, goals can include forward looking estimates admins configure forecast types such as commit most likely best case each forecast type includes a label and color, and additional forecast types can be added forecasting allows goal owners to communicate expected outcomes, not just current performance milestone based goal targets when milestone tracking is enabled, progress can be measured through completion levels instead of or in addition to metrics admins define milestone labels such as not started, halfway done, or done the numeric value each level represents the color shown throughout the product this is ideal for project based or execution focused goals where progress is best described by stages of completion progress confidence levels confidence levels define how goal owners assess whether a goal is on track admins can customize labels such as off track, partly on track, or on track the numeric value tied to each level the color used to represent confidence these confidence levels appear in goal lists, detail views, and progress updates done levels done levels define the final outcome of a goal once it is completed or closed examples include missed partial success success each level includes a numeric value and color this provides a clear, consistent way to evaluate outcomes after the fact progress update comments admins can control whether progress updates require comments required optional disabled this ensures the right balance between accountability and ease of updating, depending on organizational norms progress update reminders admins can enable automatic reminders for progress updates reminders can be scheduled by time of day frequency specific days of the week this helps keep goals fresh and reduces the need for manual follow ups creating the goal type select create to save the goal type and make it available across charthop select cancel to exit without saving changes to a goal type affect all goals using that type, so updates should be made thoughtfully
