Impact Dashboard
Alpha feature. The Impact Dashboard is currently available to select customers in Alpha. Functionality and configuration options may change before general availability.
Overview
The Impact Dashboard gives cycle owners and leadership a finance-level view of the aggregate impact of a compensation review cycle. Where the Cycle Overview answers "who has submitted?", the Impact Dashboard answers a different question: what is the overall financial and organizational impact of the changes proposed in this cycle?
All data on the Impact Dashboard is scoped to each user's access permissions. A manager who can see 10 employees in the cycle will see KPIs, budget breakdowns, and pivot table rows calculated from those 10 employees only. No data is visible beyond what a user is already permitted to view.
Accessing the Impact Dashboard
The Impact Dashboard appears as a tab inside an active compensation review cycle. The tab order is:
Cycle Overview > Changes and Approvals > Full Team Overview > Impact Dashboard > Audit Log
The tab is visible to anyone with access to the cycle, subject to the visibility configuration set by the cycle owner (see Configuring the Impact Dashboard below). It is also available when viewing a cycle in preview or test mode.
KPI Summary Cards
The top of the dashboard shows a row of up to four KPI cards, each summarizing a key dimension of the cycle's impact.
Card | What it shows | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Total Cost Impact | Sum of compensation changes, percentage increase, and pre/post values | The source field (typically Base Compensation) is configurable in Cycle Settings. Hidden automatically if the cycle does not use a compatible base field. |
Budget Utilization | Total budget used vs. allocated across all pools, plus remaining amount | Hidden automatically if no budget pools are configured for the cycle. |
Employees Impacted | Count of unique employees with active changes, as a percentage of eligible employees | Shown by default. |
Guideline Deviations | Count of employees with deviations, as a percentage of impacted employees | Shown automatically only when compensation guidelines are configured for the cycle. Hidden otherwise. |
The KPI row reflows dynamically. If Guideline Deviations is hidden, for example, the remaining cards expand to fill the row.
Each card (except Guideline Deviations) can be toggled on or off in Cycle Settings.
Cost Waterfall Chart
The waterfall chart visualizes how compensation spend moves from the current state to the post-cycle run rate. Two view modes are available:
- By Type: Breaks down changes by category, including Current Comp Spend, Merit/Base Increases, Promotions, and Post-Cycle Run Rate.
- By Budget Pool: Shows the same flow broken out by each configured budget pool.
Switch between views using the toggle above the chart.
Budget Pool Summary Table
This table shows one row per budget pool, with the following columns:
- Allocated: The total budget assigned to the pool.
- Used: The amount committed by reviewers so far.
- Remaining: The difference between allocated and used.
- Utilization %: Used as a percentage of allocated.
- Status: A color-coded chip (green, yellow, or red) indicating budget health.
Equity and integer budgets (such as RSU grant pools) are displayed in their native unit format rather than as dollar amounts. A total row is shown for currency pools only. Integer and equity pools are listed individually.
Impact Pivot Table
The pivot table provides a multi-level breakdown of cycle impact across any configured grouping dimension.
Available group-by dimensions (configurable in Cycle Settings):
- Department
- Job Level (from comp bands)
- Location
- Reviewer/Approver
- Additional workbook column fields (group and single-select fields only)
Up to three levels of grouping can be applied at once.
Columns in the table:
Column | Description |
|---|---|
Employee Count | Number of employees in the group |
Promotions | Number of promotions in the group |
Current Spend | Annualized compensation before cycle changes |
Post-Cycle Spend | Annualized compensation after cycle changes |
Delta | Combined dollar and percent change, shown as +$782,000 (+4.3%) |
Avg Increase % | Average percentage increase across the group |
Currency values in the table are shown at full precision (e.g. $18,200,000). KPI cards and chart axes use abbreviated formatting (e.g. $18.2M).
Clicking a row opens the Full Team Overview filtered to that group, so you can drill into the individual employee changes behind any aggregate number.
Ask ChartHop (AI Insights)
The Ask ChartHop button is available on the Impact Dashboard tab. The AI can reference and analyze all data visible on the page, including KPI cards, the waterfall chart, the budget pool summary, and the pivot table, to answer questions about your cycle's impact.
Configuring the Impact Dashboard
Cycle owners can configure the Impact Dashboard from Cycle Settings > Impact Dashboard (the 8th tab in Cycle Settings, alongside Key Dates, Budget Pools, and other configuration tabs).
Three sections are available:
Visibility
Controls who can see the Impact Dashboard tab. Four modes are available:
- Default (all roles): Everyone with access to the cycle can see the tab.
- Role selection: Limit visibility to specific roles (e.g. cycle owners only).
- Specific people: Restrict to a named list of individuals.
- Custom CQL: Define visibility using a CQL filter expression.
KPI Cards
Toggle individual KPI cards on or off. For the Total Cost Impact card, you can also select which field drives the calculation. This is useful for cycles that use a custom base compensation field rather than the built-in base field.
Group By Options
Configure which dimensions appear in the pivot table's group-by selector. The core set (Department, Job Level, Location, Reviewer/Approver) is enabled by default. You can add additional workbook column fields here. Only group-type and single-select fields are eligible as group-by options.
